RISHIKESH….and….RAFTINGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally what has been decided with a round of chatter boxing at my current organisation came into existence on 11 Feb. 2011 (Friday). As I left my home answering endless calls of colleagues waiting in a “TEMPO TRAVELLER” at my pick-up point. As I entered the bus, the “hor-halla” started and started our trip to the unforeseen pleasure. One by one we picked up all “would be” rafters in the bus with large speakers and a video screen, we began our rampant journey.
Some nice guys had already stashed up the bus with lots “n” lots of beer, whiskey and vodka. So while dancing, singing and drinking we reached the spot – “IndoGanges Camps”. Once down from the bus we heard the magical sounds of birds, Ganges River and rafters passing along. No one was able to hide his/her excitement. So after a heavy breakfast and a light dosage of liquor in our veins, we wore the lifejackets and helmets.
And it started with coach giving instructions (however no one was listening). We all sat on two rafts and pedals in our hands. It was easy as eating to raft on still water, but as first “RAPID” came…it passed by…. second “RAPID” came…it passed by….and third “RAPID”, and all of sudden the raft behaved like a roller-coaster and we all were drowning and shouting. Really a near-death experience, some were floating, some locked in the rapid and me just holding up the “lifeline” and jumping back to the boat. One by one all were rescued, only loss my new “Fastrack” sunglasses. But we all started again, with some fearing and some shouting in excitement, the world was looking a lot more easier after falling from the raft. We crossed eight more rapids after that and finished our journey at “Ramjhoola” with cliff-jumping at between.

Back to the camp, everyone cramped up…waiting for our night “bon-fire”. We sang and drank like old navigators used to do after successful expeditions. Next morning we woke and left for home “Delhi” singing and dancing.
Believe me this trip was one of the closest to my heart…before ending, sadly I would say…”I Became Emotional….Resigning Next Day From Office And Leaving My “Best Buddies”…Still life moves on!!! People with whom I have fallen will be remembered and kept in touch forever.
